Color Wheel Mandalas (2008)

My High School Art 1 class learned about the color wheel and how to mix all 12 colors from the 3 primaries. They also learned about mandala designs and were challenged to create their own color wheel mandala. All 12 colors plus a tint and shade of each color was required. Students used a compass to divide their square into 30 degree angles or 12 equal triangles. They drew one piece of the triangle and then used tracing paper to transfer the design into the remaining 11 triangles.
